CYBERSCAPE was created for the University of California, Berkeley’s Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC) Cybersecurity Art Contest. It is a data visualization project that explores and redefines how open source cybersecurity is represented in media. Trend data sourced by Sonatype was scraped from popular libraries’ vulnerabilities over time, tracking the connection between media popularity and response speed. The data directly informs the series and the code will be shared and reused for future projects.
The data speaks for itself: cybersecurity relies on mainstream visibility and public attention. The multi-disciplinary representation of trends encourages viewers to seek out new spaces and techniques for art and technology to work together. Art and cybersecurity can be synonymous. The visualizations are reproducible with new data. Artistic practices in technology and cybersecurity are vital to create a future that is informed, inclusive, and secure.
The work is created using generative design, data visualization, P5Js, self-portrait photography, lens distortion, and digital photo manipulation.

myFit by Aritiza, for UBC WiCS/WiDS x Aritzia Hackathon (2023) View Github Repo Team: Sue Lee, Oliva Becher, Paige Ingram, Anova Hou
myFit is a 3D AR avatar visualization product created for Aritiza. When looking at a specific item online and choosing sizes, shoppers have the option to click on the myFit button. This leads them to the myFit page where we’ve developed a 360-degree user-controlled rotation and zoom to enable users to analyze the fit from all angles. Users are able to directly select different sizes to display on their myFit figure via the user-friendly buttons. They can also adjust their body size with our front-end implementation of an interactive slider where their unique dimensions are saved to their profile. They can then visualize different clothing pieces on their own body type without the uncertainty of whether or not it’s going to fit. myFit not only revolutionizes the customer shopping experience but also provides Aritzia with millions of data points to better serve their valued customer base. Aritzia can leverage this mass data set to find notable customer trends in size and purchasing tendencies. This data can also be used for forecasting size quantities and designing clothes with the perfect dimensions. Going forward, Aritzia can leverage ML models to relate the body types of customers with their most popular purchases and even create an AI-powered style suggestion model for customers of that same body type.
